NEW DELHI, Nov 26:
Terming Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) as “fully secure”, government today said that they were tamper-proof, but refused to give a timeline for their modified versions.
In written reply in Rajya Sabha, Law and Justice Minister Ashwani Kumar said, “The Election Commission of India has informed that EVMs used by the Commission are fully secure and non-tamperable.”
On whether EC envisages measures to make EVMs more secure, he said, “Development of new models of EVMs with changing technology is a continuing process. No time limit can be set for development of new models of EVMs.”
Kumar said that the Commission has put in place elaborate administrative mechanism to ensure full transparency, complete security and non-tamperability of EVMs. (PTI)
