Evolve effective mechanism to reach out to people with Govt schemes: DyCM

JAMMU, Oct 22: Deputy Chief Ministers, Dr Nirmal Singh today asked Directorate of Field Publicity to evolve effective mechanism for mass awareness  to  realize the objective of Centrally Sponsored Government Schemes
“Benefits of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes have not reached to the people on ground especially in remote areas and there is immediate need for creating effective awareness among the cross section of the society”, Dr Nirmal Singh asserted
The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh was chairing a meeting to review the functioning of Directorate of Field Publicity Office Jammu.
The meeting was attended by Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta, Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat, Minister for Forest, Ecology & Environment Lal Singh, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary, Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism Priya Sethi, Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Information Technology, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Nanda, Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, Vice Chairman of various boards of the State and all legislators from Jammu division.
The Directorate of Field Publicity is one of the Media Units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting   working for publicizing various programmes and polices of the Government through its network of 207 centres across the country including 1 regional and 12 Field Publicity Units in Jammu division working under the control and supervision of 22 Regional Offices.
During the meeting, a Power Point Presentation was made by the officers of DFP to apprise the meeting about the functioning and mission of the organization.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister said that to bring positive change on the ground in terms of making public aware about the schemes, maximum participation of people is required with special focus on remote areas and women folk. He also stressed on active involvement of legislators and district administration while organizing the programmes to ensure the objective behind is fulfilled.
“If we are able to reach out to people with the benefits of the schemes with a positive approach and having strong will to serve them, only than the purpose of such programmes would be justified”, Dr Singh said, adding that active participation of women folk should also be ensured.
Deputy Chief Minister asked the officers for effective coordination between them, legislators and district administration to achieve the goal of educating people for their betterment through welfare and social schemes.
Dr Singh also stressed on providing information to the people in regional languages so that they will be made convenient to know about the benefits of the schemes.
During the meeting, Ministers, MP, Vice Chairperson of Boards and Legislators gave their suggestions to bring change in the lives of deserving people by way of providing benefits of all the programmes meant for them.
They also stressed on ensuring active involvement of local representatives, holding programmes at block and village levels with involvement of the officers of concerned  department, focus on far flung and remote areas, on spot enrollment of people for the schemes, awareness through nukkad nataks for strong impact, pre and post programme survey for the effective feedback, also to aware people about State sponsored schemes, proper assistance to the people during the programmes, effective planning etc.
Among others, Director Field Publicity Jammu R P Saroj, Additional DG PIB Bharti Vaid, Deputy Director Field Publicity Jammu Neha Jalali, Head R/N Unit Doordarshan Jammu Sanjit Khajuria, Exhibition officer DAVP Jammu Abdul Manan, concerned senior officers and representatives of Sound and Drama Division were present in the meeting.
