JAMMU, Sept 7: State Vigilance Organization has registered a case against Mohd Qasim, the then Executive Engineer Transmission Line Construction Division I Jammu, Umesh Sharma, the then AEE Electrical Sub-Division I, AK Raina, the then AEE (Civil) Sub-Division, Sanjeev Rohmetra, the then AEE (Electrical) Sub-Division Store, Nissar Ahmed, the then AEE (Electrical) and other unknown officers of Transmission Line construction Division No I Jammu.
An official spokesman said that Mohd Qasim, the then Executive Engineer (who also remained Chief Engineer PDD), received funds to the tune of Rs 418.50 lakh during the period between March 5, 2008 to March 31, 2008 from Chief Engineer System and Operation in respect of various works and accordingly the funds were released in favour of AEEs.
Thereafter, Mohd Qasim entered into criminal conspiracy with accused AEEs and accordingly they prepared inflated/ fake estimates and bills in respect of various works thereby facilitated wrong payment to the tune of Rs 33.34 lakh. In this way, the accused officials obtained wrongful gain and corresponding loss to the State exchequer.
Based on the outcome of verification, the Vigilance Organization registered a case against these accused officers. The investigation of the case has been entrusted to Inspector Reena Bhau. However, no arrest has been made so far.
