Srinagar, Apr 1: A former Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Srinagar along with top Revenue officials were booked by Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (VOK) for false mutation of over six kanals of State land here in city.
A VOK spokesman said a verification conducted by the Vigilance into the allegations that Tehsildar South Srinagar has attested a false mutation No. 3865 regarding Nazool Land measuring 6 kanals 14 marlas falling under Survey No. 499 Min in Estate Narsing Garh, Magarmal Bagh valued worth crores of rupees in favour of one Ghulam Rasool Kana.
He said during the verification, it was revealed that the land in question is State land and the super structures existing thereon were under the occupation of IRP 1st Battalion Headquarters and CAPD Department.
The spokesman said the then Tehsildar Sheikh Muneer Akhter of (South) Srinagar in league with concerned Patwari namely Sheikh Showkat Hussain, Girdawar Halqa Ghulam Nabi Bakal and Ajaz Iqbal, the then Deputy Commissioner Srinagar hatched conspiracy with one another and land broker namely Ghulam Rasool Kana by way of which attested mutation No. 3865 dated 28.01.2008 in favour of Ajab Singh conferred undue benefit upon the beneficiary by granting ownership/occupancy rights of the said land upon him though established to be non-State Subject.
“The verification further revealed that Ghulam Rasool Kana (Land Broker) subsequently obtained power of attorney form the beneficiary Ajab Singh on the basis of which the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Sheikh Ajaz Iqbal in league with other revenue officials etc. without ascertaining the title of the land etc. handed over the possession of the land along with super structure thereon to Ghulam Rasool Kana, the attorney holder of the beneficiary,” the spokesman said.
Thus by acting in the aforementioned manner, he said, the above mentioned public servants, by way of abusing their official positions in conspiracy with each other conferred illegally undue benefit upon Ajab Singh and his attorney holder Ghulam Rasool Kana.
“Accordingly Case FIR No. 10/2016 under Sections 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act Svt. 2006 and Sections 120(B),467, 468 and 471 RPC in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir was registered against the then DC Sheikh Ajaz Iqbal, Sheikh Muneer Akhter, the then Tehsildar South, Girdawar Halqa namely Ghulam Nabi Bakal, Patwari Sheikh Showkat Hussain, beneficiaries Ajab Singh and Ghulam Rasool Kana,” the spokesman added.
