JAMMU, Mar 4: In a statement working president JKPCC and former Dy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that the farmers of border area whose land falls under mines area and fenced by the Army have not received compensation for the last 15 years.
He said that border area people face great hardships during peace and war. They cannot cultivate their fields properly due to certain obstacles, like firing across the border, fencing of mines area for which they were compensated but for the last several it was stopped. He demanded that proper compensation should be given to the farmers of ALC on regular basis.
He also demanded special recruitment drive for border area people, in Army and Para Military forces. He reiterated his earlier demand of regularization of all daily wagers, need based workers, besides those working in temporary, adhoc, consolidated and contractual basis for several years on meagre wages/salaries, filling up of vacant posts in various government departments and preference should be given to local youths.
Former Dy Chief Minister demanded that 11 Kgs ration per head and sugar and pulses on subsidized rates for the people through ration depots as they used to get this much ration years ago. He also demanded 12 gas cylinders on subsidized rates as promised by the parties and leaders during elections.
