JAMMU, May 8: Demanding regularization of daily rated workers (DRWs), casual labours and need based workers engaged in PHE, I&FC, PWD, PDD and other engineering departments, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand urged the Government to provide justice to these employees who have given their 20 years of life as daily wagers.
Addressing a large gathering at Naryana village at Khour today, Tara Chand said that present Government has betrayed the public by false promises. It was Congress Government which provided water, power and road connectivity in rural and far flung areas of the State, he added.
He pointed out that Pargwal canal is totally dry as PHE and Irrigation department failed to repair the damaged canal. Water supply in the entire area is negligible as there are long power cuts. The people are raising hue and cry but no body bothers about their plea. Even several local speakers also projected their issues during several corner meetings.
Tara Chand assured the local residents of solving their problems by bringing these into the notice of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
The Congress leader said that after the floods, none of the roads in the border area was developed. He said the BJP Government has befooled the public by making false promises.
“We will pressurize the Government to speed up the regularization process of PHE and other departments. Congress started this process however, BJP Government has kept the files in cold storage,” said Tara Chand.
“BJP Government is also not doing anything for the compensation of PoK refugees. Congress started the process and BJP has abandoned it,” the Ex-DyCM maintained.
Block presidents of Congress, Sarpanchs, Panchs of Chhamb constituency also participated in the public meeting.
