JAMMU, Mar 3: Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) today arrested the then Executive Officer, Katra Municipal Committee, (KMC) Ravi Kumar Sharma for misusing his official position by violating the service rules.
The accused is also involved in case FIR No 21/2006 registered in Police Station VOJ in which the challan against him has been already produced in the court, a handout issued by VoJ here said.
It said a case under FIR No 8/2017 against Ravi Kumar and Nitin Sharma, Sanitation Officer Municipal Committee, Katra on the basis of verification conducted into the allegations of illegal appointment of later as Sanitation Officer in Municipal Committee Katra has revealed that Nitin Sharma was initially engaged as daily wager in Municipal Committee Katra.
Later, his services were regularized as Sanitary Inspector on March 1, 2006 on the basis of a resolution passed by Municipal Committee on November 29, 2005 and as per the approval of Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu given on January 3, 2006 vide order number M/K/2006/1020-21 dated 23-01-2006.
However, the order was issued by Ravi Kumar, the then Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Katra.
The verification by Vigilance sleuths further revealed that Ravi Kumar has projected case of Nitin Kumar for regularization as Sanitary Inspector without any advertisement or interview being conducted for the said post.
The verification has also revealed that the Executive Officer is not competent to issue such orders and it further revealed that no approval was given for regularization of the official on January 3, 2006 by Director Urban Local Bodies, Jammu.
The handout said that the verifications also revealed the service record of the subject was intentionally and deliberately misplaced as well as destroyed during the tenure of Ravi Kumar as Executive Officer by misusing his official position and the Executive Officer in league with beneficiary has extended undue favours and benefits to him in gross violation of service rules.
