JAMMU, Nov 16: Two days after the tenure of five years of elected public representatives of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) ended, some ex-Councillors of the Urban Local Body have questioned the working of ex-Mayor, Rajinder Sharma during his short tenure of about a year.
“He (Rajinder Sharma) wasted JMC money to make his politics shine and befooled the people of Jammu,” Gorav Chopra, ex-Councillor said while addressing a press conference here today.
Chopra also said that the anti-polythene campaign started by ex-Mayor Rajinder Sharma under which he got DRDO made bio-degradable carry-bags launched in Jammu through Union Minister, Hardeep Puri was a futile exercise as these DRDO made carry-bags are now used nowhere in Jammu.
The ex-Councillor also took a dig at the former Mayor on anti-corruption campaign being started by the latter and asked how many Enforcement Officers of JMC have been suspended by Rajinder Sharma during his short tenure of about a year.
“He organised the Media Conclave recently at Convention Centre in Jammu only to get an extension as a Mayor and had invited his favoured persons to voice that concern,” Chopra claimed.
Ex-Councillors—Amit Gupta, Sobat Ali Chowdhary and Prof. Yudhvir Singh were also present in the press conference and they also demanded early elections in J&K.
