JAMMU, June 15: Former MLA Ramban and spokesperson of JKPCC Ashok Kumar has lambasted the BJP Government (Centre) for the prolonged delay in completion of link roads under PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna) and R&B (Rural and Building) in Ramban and Doda districts.
Ashok stated that during the tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Minister of J&K, several roads were sanctioned under PMGSY such as Marog-Balihote, Adhwa road, Seri-Sencha road, Kabhi-Bhathan road, Maitra-Balawat road, Rajgarh to Shamti road, Batote to Rakhjrug, Batote to Chakwa road, Nashri to Sana road, Gagla road, Ranka road, Kashtigarh road, Chilli to Dandal road, Ganika-kaddal road and Bemina to Dessa road.
He stressed upon the Central Government to direct the concerned authorities for fast track black topping, repairing of roads, clearing debris and also a comprehensive approach towards incomplete roads for the welfare of the rural people of Ramban and Doda districts.
The former MLA said that the Central Government and concerned authorities are not serious about the planting of trees along the slopes of the PMGSY roads. He said that the concerned department has deposited amount for afforestation of all areas along the PMGSY roads but unfortunately, forest authorities had not spent the amount properly.
He stressed for immediate action to be taken under CAMPA scheme in this regard. “Moreover, there should be transparency in the spending of the amount on afforestation as the matter is related to landslides and changing Mountain ecosystem due to the unsustainable development of roads,” he asserted.
Kumar urged upon the Central Government and concerned authorities that left-out habitation link roads under PMGSY with a population of 250 and above should be sanctioned and work should be start immediately. He stated that there are more than 50 left-out habitation link roads without road in Ramban Constituency.
