Ex-MLA Shanti Devi passes away

JAMMU, May 21:  Former Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Shanti Devi  was passed away due to cardiac arrest here today.
She was 78 and is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Family sources said that her one son and daughter are in USA  and the cremation would take place on May 24 at Shastri Nagar cremation ground only after the arrival of both from USA.
They further said that Ex-MLA complained of chest pain during the day and was admitted to GMC Hospital Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. She breathed her last at around  4 pm on the hospital bed.
Meanwhile, People’s Democratic party expressed heartfelt condolences on sudden demise of   former legislator, Shanti Devi and mother of PDP leader,  Jatinder Bhat.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of senior PDP Shanti Devi who passed away at Jammu today.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister recalled the contribution of Shanti Devi in building the party cadre in the State and giving a voice to women in the developmental process.
Mufti has conveyed her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of Shanti Devi and prayed for eternal solace to her soul.
Dy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh while expressing grief and sorrow over the sudden demise of Ex-MLA Shanti Devi, convyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
PDP  general secretary Ved Mahajan while expressing his condolences recalled his association with the deceased as legislature.  He said that during her tenure as MLA ,  she raised and fought for issues of critical importance in public life.
Senior party leaders,  S Rangil Singh, T S Bajwa, Daman Bhasin,  Vijaya Dogra Katoch, Fallail Singh, MLC Surender Choudhary, Bhushan Dogra,  Rajender Manhas, FC Bhagat, Satpal Singh Charak, Capt Anil Gour, Suresh Sharma,  Romesh Koul, Ch Hussain Ali wafa, Hamid Choudhary, R K Bali and others also conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of Shanti Devi and prayed for eternal peace to her soul.
