NOWSHERA, Mar 19: Former MLC and senior Congress leader Ravinder Sharma today met the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal and apprised him of the huge loss to the standing crops and other property in Sunderbani, Beripattan, Nowshera and some adjoining areas due to the heavy rains and hailstorms during the past few days.
Mr Sharma showed him sample cases of damaged crops from the areas indicating all kinds of crops, vegetables , fruits and pulses in the badly affected pockets. He apprised him that some fresh damages due to hailstorm and heavy rains were reported last night and today early morning, as a result the farmers have been left shattered.
The Ex-MLC was accompanied by Neeraj Gupta, secretary PCC. He demanded on spot Girdawari to reflect the ground position to assess the proper damage for adequate relief and full compensation and provision of free ration to the farmers.
The Divisional Commissioner talked to DC, Rajouri and passed on instructions to him in this regard for proper assessment and timely delivery of the relief to the affected people at the earliest.
