Ex-MLC condemns cross border shelling by Pak

KATHUA, Sept 19: Senior Congress leader and former Member Legislative Council, Subash Gupta expressing anguish over unprovoked shelling by Pakistan across International Border of Hiranagar sector has strongly condemned its cowardice act.
Expressing anguish over the act of Pakistan in targeting the civilian population, Gupta said that on Wednesday Pakistan targeted border hamlets and created havoc in the area. Appreciating the act of retaliation by Indian forces, Ex-MLC said that despite this Pakistan do not desist from indiscriminate firing across the border resulting to loss of human life and property.
“The life of border dwellers along the IB often get silenced as farming, schooling, cattle rearing and everything else on which border dwellers survive, will come to a halt due to the shelling episodes,” he irked.
Subash Gupta raising the issue for early completion of construction work of bunkers and community shelters and said that the Government should also allot 5 marlas plot to border residents at safer places so that in case of firing on border they can shift their families there.
He also demanded Government for providing an specialized team of doctors readily available at the nearby border hospitals so that in case of emergency the injured can be treated with the best of the services.
Gupta also said that unscheduled power cuts in border townships is another problem which the people are facing. He demanded government to establish a power receiving station near Manyari village at border for the regular power supply in the border villages.
Expressing concern over the problems of border people Ex-MLC demanded completion the ongoing work of bridge being constructed across Tarnah Nallah on Old Samba- Kathua Road. He said that the moment the bridge gets completed, thousands of villagers of border area will have an easy approach to Hiranagar Tehsil Headquaters.
