Srinagar, Sept 12: Former Legislator and Peoples Conference senior leader Mohammad Khurshid Alam has condemned the Government action of disengagement of services of 918 helpers to supervisors in Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme of Social Welfare Department.
Alam in a statement has termed such an action unwarranted and deeply vindictive. He has questioned the government over the logic behind this extreme measure in which livelihood of more than 900 families has been snatched with one single stroke of a pen. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has been plunged into an uncertain, unnatural and frightening chaos of bureaucratic mis-governance and common man is bearing the brunt of such ruthless use of power unleashed by the present regime.
“Every day we are witnessing bizarre, uncalled for and unnatural diktats masquerading as official decisions. Such unilateral measures taken without compunction are proving lethal for the administrative set-up built over the years by able, veteran and hardworking administrators of the past,” Alam said.
He added that terminating the services of 918 workers at ICDS has not only snatched away the livelihood of the workers but has also left their families, their children and their ailing parents in distress.
Alam demanded immediate rollback of the decision and impressed upon the government adopt humane approach while dealing with the citizenry of Jammu and Kashmir- a place that has been riddled by conflict, uncertainty and joblessness for decades.
