SUNDERBANI, July 30: Former MLC and Chief Spokesperson Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Ravinder Sharma expressed concern over the delay in completion of the Government Degree College building, here today.
Due to absence of the full fledged building of the College, nearly 900 students are being forced to attend their classes in the makeshift building of four rooms, said Sharma while expressing solidarity with the students, adding that the College building was sanctioned in the year of 2011, followed by the site of the building was arbitrarily changed from Kathanu to new site and lack of funds causing delay in completion of the work.
Ravinder Sharma visited the College and expressed concern over the hardships being faced by the students due to non completion of the building. They explained their hardships due to non availability of space and other facilities for a college besides non availability of even art subjects, lack of adequate security environment putting girl students to fear and harassment besides problem of drinking water.
Sahil Khajuria, Sidarth Kumar and Jyoti Devi also spoke on the occasion and narrated the student issues. Sharma also appreciated the College staff for performance of their responsibilities in the limited space and facilities.
He also asked the civil and police administration to take immediate notice of the problems highlighted by the students.
