Ex-MLC pays tribute to Qila Darhal martyrs

NOWSHERA, Oct 28: Former MLC and senior Congress leader, Ravinder Sharma today visited Shaheed Garh, to pay rich tribute to the martyrs of Qila Darhal (Nowshera) in an impressive function held at Shaheed Garh.
Senior officers of Army, Civil, Police including  Brig P. Acharya, Col Narain Babu, SSP Rajouri Mohd Aslam, ADC News Th Kartar Singh, SDPO  Nowshera Tufail, president DGPC Prof Hardial Singh, family members of martyrs and thousands  of local population attended the Shradanjli Samaroh and paid homage to the martyrs in whose honour an impressive function is held every year to remember the supreme sacrifices of civilians and army personal during 1947 tribal invasion and in subsequent wars.
Recalling the supreme sacrifices of Jathedar Ram Singh, Hukam Singh, Pritam Singh, Bhag Singh, Suchan Singh and Lal Chand Bhagat, who led the fight to repulse the raiders attack in 1947 in Qila Darhal area, Ravinder Sharma said that the nation is indebted to the martyrs who secured and  safeguarded the freedom and territorial integrity of the country and generations to come would draw inspirations from the brave sons of the soil.
Former MLC recalled the contributions of heroes of freedom struggle and those civilians and army personnel who gave supreme sacrifices. He recalled the supreme sacrifices of Brig Usman, the saviour of Jhangarh. Sharma disclosed that his own uncle L/Hav  Deputy Lal (VRC) was martyred în Rajouri sector on June 15,1948 , so he has special respect and attachment with martyrs and their families. He pleaded for the maintenance and preservation of the local fort (Qila) of the then Maharaja Ranjit Singh and creation of more facilities for the locals and visitors there.
