JAMMU, Feb 23: Former MLC and senior Congress leader, Ravinder Sharma has voiced his concern over the apprehensions of  large number of DP families  and others settled on the old  Railway track in R S Pura, of getting uprooted, in view of  the Government’s proposal of toy train along the route.
A deputation of the DP families met former MLC here today and apprised him about their apprehensions who were settled there by the Government after getting uprooted from PoJK in 1947.
The Government has not shared the details of the proposed project and has come out with the idea without taking the people and families likely to be affected and uprooted after decades of permanent settlements by the dint of hard work and labour.
Ravinder Sharma shared the concern and apprehensions of the people and extended full support to them and demanded that the Government should take note of the unrest amongst the people and should first take them into confidence before any such steps in the direction.
He said already the displaced people feel cheated by the BJP Government for not fulfilling the commitment of grant of  ex- gratia relief of  Rs 30 lakhs per family as recommended by the previous Government and the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) as well as other components of the 2014 package. They are struggling for their genuine demands for the last six years but this move has caused unrest amongst large number of families, Sharma added.
