Ex-MP, former Councillor start tube-well work

JAMMU, July 18: Senior BJP leader and former MP (Rajya Sabha), Shamsher Singh Manhas along with ex-Councillor, Kuldeep Chib here today started deep-drilling work of a tube-well at KB Nagar, Bantalab.
Speaking on the occasion, Manhas said that about Rs. 78 lakh will be spent on the construction of the tube-well, completion of which will benefit the residents of Bantalab and adjoining areas.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Jal Jeevan Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India.
Manhas said that the achievement of 75 per cent coverage for providing clean tap water to over 14 lakh rural households reflects Government’s commitment to ensure access to safe drinking water.
“J&K’s journey under Jal Jeevan Mission is a commendable story of progress and commitment to the well-being of its citizens,” he maintained.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Pawan Singh Chib, Dushyant Singh, Ramesh Dhar, Rajinder Singh and Vikram Kumar.
