Ex-MP stresses on girl-child education

JAMMU, Apr 14: Former MP and senior Congress leader, Janak Raj Gupta today stressed on the need of providing good education to the girl-child.
Mr Gupta, who is also advisor of All India Indira Gandhi Global Family, was speaking during an awareness programme at Kothe Bhagwan Singh, Bishnah, organised by Gandhi Global Family to make the people aware about girl child. In his keynote address, Gupta insisted on the people to save the girl child and provide good education for a healthy society.
Noted social activist and secretary, Gandhi Global Family, SP Varma spoke on women empowerment and emancipation.
A large number of Congress leaders also participated in the function besides residents and students from adjoining villages. On the occasion, students recited poems and gave speeches, advocating protection of girl child.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included Ved Parkash Bhagat, Kartar Singh, Banarasi Lal, Darshan Anand, Sudesh Bhagat, Ram Chand and Madan Lal.
