JAMMU, Oct 9: Ex-Policemen League, district Jammu, in its monthly meeting held at District Police Lines here today under the chairmanship of DySP (Retd) K S Sambyal, discussed various issues pertaining to welfare of retired police officers and officials.
The meeting urged the Director General of Police to take up the matter with the Government for revival of SRO 458 of Police dated 13-01-1999 (kept in abeyance) as the said SRO takes care of all the problems of retired police personnel.
The members expressed that some retires are in the grip of serious ailments requiring early treatment, which they cannot afford and desired that their parent department should come for their help. They also reiterated that Medical Allowance should be enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month.
It was decided in the meeting that executive body of the district committee will approach the DGP and request for suitable accommodation for office use in Police premises with a provision of 50 to 70 chairs to be provided to League as present office room is insufficient.
The meeting demanded further that in the event of death of police officer or official, an on the spot payment of Rs 10,000 through special representative of Police Department should be provided and all SSPs may be authorised to sanction the amount for meeting last rites expenses of the deceased policemen.
