JAMMU, Dec 10: J&K Ex-Policemen League discussed various demands and problems of the ex-police personnel in its meeting held today under the chairmanship of newly elected president, Sawtanter Arora, Deputy SP (Retd).
A large number of ex-policemen participated in the meeting. The officers expressed concerns and deliberated upon long demands and issues. It was resolved that the league will reach out to ex-police officers in rural area at Tehsil level to extend helping hand to them in addressing their grievances and hardships.
The members of ex-policemen fraternity were requested to send their grievances to office headquarters for redressal so that these issues are taken up with the civil and police administration at appropriate level.
The participants re-iterated the long pending demand which include revival of SRO-458 which has been kept in abeyance since long, allocation of special funds to promote and create educational avenues, reservation for wards of policemen (retd) in recruitment policy, health and medical treatment to the ailing members, removal of anomalies in pay/pension, enhancement of medical allowance, financial assistance for performing last rites, etc.
The demand of providing visual, hearing impairments and orthopedic treatment was vociferously raised and the participants urged that the police department should liaise with reputed hospitals for specialized treatment. The members expressed that those promoted on OPG basis be given effect from the day they assumed higher office and performed successfully.
The league hoped that the problems of both retired and those who are about to retire shall be given proper heed and attention by DGP, J&K, Dilbag Singh. They further urged the DGP that ex-policemen should be allowed to apply for allocation of flats in the proposed housing colonies at par with the serving police personnel.
