JAMMU, Dec 4: Crime Branch of Delhi Police today arrested an ex-serviceman from Thanna Mandi for his involvement in espionage racket, taking total number of arrests made from the border district of Rajouri so far to three.
The Pakistani spy arrested from Thanna Mandi in Rajouri district this evening has been identified as Munawar Hussain Mir son of Nazir Hussain, a resident of village Khablan, Thanna Mandi.
He had retired from JAK Li as Havaldar and had served in a Brigade at Jammu and Rashtriya Rifles between 1995 and 2011.
Official sources said the name of Munawar Hussain in spying for Pakistan had surfaced during interrogation of BSF Head Constable Abdul Rashid and Government employee Kafait Ullah Khan, who had been arrested earlier by the Delhi Police from Rajouri.
Delhi Police had taken Munawar Hussain on transit remand from Rajouri and were on way to New Delhi.
SSP Rajouri Rajeshwar Singh was coordinating with the Delhi Police.
Sources said Munawar Hussain had retired about four years back but was reported to have passed on some sensitive information to Kafait Ullah Khan, which he had given to Pakistani agencies for whom he was working.
Some more arrests in the case haven’t been ruled out.
