Ex-serviceman opens fire, two injured

KATHUA, June 12: An ex-serviceman here today opened fire on two youth in a land dispute case at Patran Berrian leaving them injured.
The injured Rishi Sharma, son of Banarsi Das and Summit Sharma, son of Mulakh Raj, residents of Patel Nagar were shifted to GMC Kathua and afterwards they were referred to Punjab hospital in a critical condition.
The problem arose when both the parties, being family members, were present at Patran Berrian to get the share in the land measuring 19 acres.
The elder brother ex-serviceman Ranjit Singh, son of Jai Singh, resident of Ward number 12, Kathua refused to give share of the family land to his younger brother’s wife.
Ranjit lost temper and opened fire on the other party and fled away from the spot.
After the firing incident a Police team led by SHO Kathua, Sudhir Sadotra reached the spot and started investigation.
Police has registered a case under Section 307 and 4/25 Arms Act and dispatched cops to arrest the absconding person.
However, a deputation of family members of the injured persons met SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh and apprised him about the incident.
They demanded justice and share in family land. The SSP assured justice and action under law.
