AKHNOOR, Nov 25: The monthly meeting of the ex-Servicemen Association was held here under the chairmanship of Lakhbir Singh.
The meeting focused on issues related to the welfare of Naval ex-Servicemen, ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris, and Widows.
During the meeting, a two-minute silence was observed in honour of Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar, who was martyred during an encounter with terrorists in Kishtwar on November 10.
The Chairman took the opportunity to educate the ex-servicemen about the latest rules regarding various welfare schemes.
He also expressed gratitude to the Managing Director of ECHS, Army Headquarters, and all concerned officers for their efforts in upgrading the ECHS Poly Clinic Akhnoor from Type D to Type C and authorizing a Medical Specialist (Mom Doctor) at the clinic.
A major concern raised by the ex-servicemen was the persistent traffic jams in Akhnoor, which waste valuable time, especially for patients.
Despite a previous request for priority attention on October 25, no improvements have been observed.
The officers from the concerned departments were once again urged to address the issue on a priority basis.
A representative team from ICICI Bank, Akhnoor, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the benefits and incentives available to ex-servicemen for opening DSP accounts.
The meeting was conducted by Subedar (Retd) Mani Ram Bhagat, who provided a comprehensive update on the activities and programs undertaken in the past month.
Other prominent attendees included Captain Santosh Kumar, Bodh Raj, Gurmukh Singh, Raghbir Singh, Puran Chand, Prakash Chand, Shelo Ram, Om Prakash, Sewa Singh, Bhagwan Das, Prakash Chand, Romesh Chander, Choudhary Mai, Batu Phom, Shakti Kumar, Subhash Chander, Ganesh Kesar and many others.
