KATHUA, Mar 11: The Ex-servicemen Welfare Association, Kathua held a protest demonstration against District Hospital Kathua administration in the premises of the hospital to highlight the problems being faced by the patients and their attendants. The Ex Servicemen assembled in the hospital premises and raised slogans against the Hospital authorities for their failure to arrange basic healthcare services in District Hospital.
The protestors including Gian Singh, Bansi Lal, Raghubir Singh and Partap Singh alleged that the patients are suffering a lot for want of required medicare facilities. They said that the road connecting to in- patient wards from causality is in shambles and deep gorges were seen on it causing serious problems to the patients on the road. The Xray Machine is not functioning properly and patients spend double money for conducting an X-ray as hospital X-ray is always seen out of order and doctors ask the patients to get Xray conducted from private clinic.
The patients were not given blankets in Winter season. Even during the major surgeries patients were not given blankets and other items. They said that a Dispensary is much better than District Hospital Kathua to take the care of poor patients. The authorities are keeping mum and even the Rogi Kalyan Samiti has also become white elephant and did not pay attention to the problems of patients drawn from far flung and hilly areas having no money to spend in private nursing homes. They warned the authorities to immediately mange the better health care services on standard mark.
