Ex-servicemen rally held at JAKLI Regimental Centre

Srinagar, Nov 21: A rally of ex-servicemen was today held at Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regimental Centre during which they were felicitated by army.
A defence spokesman said the rally commenced with an excellent band display by the pipes and drums band of the JAKLI Regimental Centre, which was followed by an inspiring speech from the highest gallantry award winner, Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Bana Singh, Param Vir Chakra, also from the JAK LI Regiment.
“Various informative-cum-issue resolution stalls were established by agencies like Defence Pension Disbursement Office, Army Welfare Education Society, Sainik Boards, Directorate General of Resettlement, Army Placement Agency, Recruiting Directorate, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme and Record Offices to address the grievances and problems of the ex-servicemen as well as to disseminate latest information on various policies of the State and Central Governments affecting them. Representatives of all the agencies were present at the venue and assisted ex-Servicemen in resolving their issues,” he said.
Chinar Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Satish Dua felicitated the ex-servicemen during the event. He addressed the gathering and complimented the retired soldiers for their invaluable contribution towards the nation as well as for their over whelming response. He also urged them to draw maximum benefits from the rally as it was organised primarily to alleviate their problems and to keep them abreast with the recent welfare schemes/policies.
General Dua also presented specially modified scooters to four disabled soldiers during the rally.
The defence spokesman said alongside the rally, ‘Veer Naris’ whose spouses had made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation, were also felicitated in a function attended by Regional President, Chinar AWWA  Aradhana Dua.
“The event was attended by over 200 Veer Naris and they were presented with assistance packages as a mark of army’s gratitude towards them for their personal sacrifices and losses,” he said.
