Ex-Services League discusses several issues in AGM

JAMMU, June 9: Annual general meeting of Indian Ex-Services League was held for discussing various issues of the Ex-servicemen and their families.
During the meeting, members highlighted several issues and demands, which included VAT relief, reservations in Government jobs at par with Himachal Pradesh, land for the Sainik Colonies in 60 days and revival of the prestigious Sainik Vanaspati Factory of the JAK Ex-servicemen Coop.
The meet also suggested the Government to have a special Veterans Force / Veterans Army like Territorial Army which could be embodied for disaster management, election duties, security and such other allied duties.
Addressing the AGM, the president Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal informed the members that Government of India has given few concessions, such as two increments for every rank, extending 6th Pay Commission increase in pension of widows, allowing second pension to all ranks and extending pension to disabled children for life from September 24, 2012.
The district presidents raised points concerning their districts touching medical problems, Arms Licenses, compensation for mined areas on the LoC, recruitment rallies at each district particularly at Kargil and Kishtwar.
On the occasion, Capt Narain Singh, ex vice president Kashmir was felicitated on his 100th birth day and was presented a shawl.
The meeting was attended among others by Lt Gen Sadhotra, Maj Gen Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Maj Gen S K Sharma and Brig R L Sharma.
