UDHAMPUR, June 5: J&K Ex-Services League has pinned hopes on new Government at Centre for an early redressal of demands, today.
This came to the fore in an ex-servicemen rally at Chenani wherein Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, president of the J&K Ex-Services League told that all the pending problems like One Rank One Pension (OROP) with the Centre Government and the issues taken up with the State Government for over five years like Acquisition of land for the Sainik Colony, VAT Relief, Reservation at par with HP/Punjab including enrolment in Police and Belt Forces, Revival of Sainik Vanaspati Ex-Serviceman Co-operative, issue of arms licences and Dogra Certificate etc will be taken up hoping that the State Government would concede the same at an earliest.
He also advised the ex-servicemen to take to herbal farming for which the whole State particularly Jammu region is ideally suited. He reminded them that there is Armed Forces Rehabilitation programme “Arms to Farms” which has not helped us much. J&K Ex-Services League in collaboration with Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) Jammu has planned to launch a new programme on June 19, 2014 at IIIM Canal Road Jammu where a seminar “Arms to Farms” has been organized.
Those who are interested should send their names through their president to general secretary J&K Ex-Services League immediately. The president gave the details of the seminar. He said participants will be accommodated in IIIM Canal Road Jammu and will be paid bus fare. Soldier Farmers will be offered assistance in identifying Medicinal Plants and herbs like Lavender, Phalsa, Lemongrass, Mint or any other local herbs.
Ex Servicemen interested in cultivating in their area will be provided free plants retaining with buy back arrangements. He said it will be golden opportunity for soldier farmers of the backward State of the country to derive full benefit from the programmes offered.
