KATHUA, Dec 20: Acting swiftly on inputs of excavator involved in illegal mining in Ujh river, District Mineral Officer, Rajinder Singh rushed to the spot and seized the machine.
It was informed that the machine was excavating RBM from the interior of the River channel. Earlier, the photos of excavator were also circulated in the social media but when DMO came to know about it, he immediately rushed to the spot and took action.
“Ten number of excavators have already been seized by the Geology and Mining Department in Ujh river” DMO informed and further added that similar actions shall be carried out as and when required to curb the menace of illegal mining.
DMO also informed that there are five leases of minor mineral in Ujh river for supply of RBM but the machine was digging the land beyond the limits of lease against the extant rules of the Geology and Mining Department.
The excavator after seizure as per the rules of Geology and Mining Department has been kept in the custody of Police Post at Korepunu till realization of penalty.
