POONCH, Jan 11: The Mining department team, assisted by police today seized an excavator and two vehicles for illegal mining and dismantled two illegal mining ramps in Poonch area.
Official sources said that the joint team, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin Choudhary launched operation at different locations in Poonch and Mandi today and seized three vehicles including excavator. One dump of Riverbed Material (RBM) at Dhundak was also seized.
These vehicles were being utilized in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minor minerals, causing severe damage to the environment and disrupting the ecological balance of the region.
The team identified and dismantled two illegal mining ramps in Surankote that were being used as entry points for illegal mining operations. These ramps facilitated the extraction of minerals without proper permits and clearances, posing a significant threat to the environmental integrity of the area.
