NEW DELHI, Oct 13: Daily Excelsior bagged Best CSR Communication Award in Publishing category at DAC SAARC Awards.
The award was received by Dr HS Paul, Delhi Bureau Chief, Daily Excelsior, on behalf of his publication from SK Garg, Special Invitee and Gaurav Chopra, vice president DAC and son of VK Chopra, at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi.
The advertising fraternity of Delhi-NCR converged at Hotel Taj City, Gurgaon to witness the culmination of a year’s hard work across various categories at DAC SAARC Award function. This is an annual event hosted by the Delhi Advertising Club which has been actively promoting the cause of the brand communication fraternity over the last 25 years and has been reborn in a contemporary new hyper-active avatar in the last 6 years.
CSR Communication Award was introduced first time in the memory of Chopra as an acknowledgement of his hard work extended towards Delhi Advertising Club. In addition, a total of 30 agencies across ATL, Live & Experiential, Digital, Media, Rural (a new category) and OOH participated. 5 leading media organizations too made their presence felt in the newly introduced category of ‘Excellence In Publishing’.
A total of 188 pieces of creative work, ideas and case studies were judged by a power packed jury. It was chaired by Anita Nayyar CEO – India & SE Asia Havas Media Group. Other notable members of the jury were Preeti Koul Senior Creative Director -Ogilvy, Krishnan Damodaran Senior Creative Director, Wunderman Thomson – Chennai, Lokesh Tiwari, Founder IConnect Enterprise, Koustuv Chatterjee ECD, Experience Commerce, Rohan Noronha Head Sales-Quora, Chanda Singh CEO XP&D, Sunny Vohra Senior VP Madison Turnt, Varun Kohli Group CEO, ITV Network, Rajesh Laikh EVP Crescent Communications and Shiveshwar Raj Singh (former ECD of FCB) Founder Smoke Signal.
With over 225 people in attendance, a total of 44 awards were given out across the categories. A stringent online judging process which eliminates any bias was used as in previous years with an algorithm that tempers any abnormal scoring spikes. The prominent winners included HS Ad, Stark Communications, Innocean Worldwide, Havas Media Group, Bang in the Middle, Publicis, Zenith Optimedia, Span Communications, Times Network, My FM and some promising start-ups in experiential/digital marketing – XP&D, ATechnos and Curate.
The coveted ‘Agency of the Year’ award saw a tie between Stark Communications who wowed the jury with their Kerala Tourism and KSTDC campaigns and HS Ad, the in-house agency for LG Electronics. These awards were presented by Anita Nayyar, CEO India & SE Asia – Havas Media Group and Dr HS Paul – former president of Delhi Advertising Club.
Speaking at the event to a packed house, Anita Nayyar, Chairperson of the Jury, emphasized on the need to enhance the quality of ideas and level of creativity so that it makes a real impact for brands in the consumers’ minds. She also exhorted more agencies across the board to submit their stellar entries in the coming year and vie for this prestigious honour.
Vivek Srivastava, president of Delhi Advertising Club said, “This event marks the culmination of a journey of a creative idea and a communication professional as it is an occasion to honour the best among them. The members of advertising fraternity are seeing the contemporary face of DAC and coming board for all the initiatives.”
The event was supported by the team DAC comprising of honorary secretary Raman Chugh, treasurer Naresh Sachdeva, vice presidents -Mona Jain and Gaurav Chopra, joint secretary Abhishek Jain and executive committee members Uday Mohan and Umesh Sharma.
