LEH, Dec 17: Except 6th Schedule nothing suits to safeguard Ladakh’s unique culture, identity, job and land projection.
This was stated today by former president of District Congress Committee (DCC) and ex-MLA Tsering Samphel while addressing a press conference at party office. Samphel flanked by DYC president Advocate Dorjay Gyaltsan said “without 6th schedule Ladakh may become like Tripura where tribal population reduced to 30% from the existing 80% in the past”.
He said that Congress party without any doubt asked for 6th Schedule and nearly 35,000 educated students studying outside Ladakh demands for the same whereas BJP is trying to create confusion among public by spreading rumours of Hill Council and Panchayat system abrogation incase of 6th schedule which is totally incorrect said Samphel. He also urged the Ladakhi BJP unit leaders to demands 6th schedule for Ladakh without any fear to safeguard the region.
Samphel also said that Congress party strongly condemns the BJP president Dorjay Angchok’s condemnation over the congress MP Ambika Soni’s 6th schedule demand in Rajya Sabha.
Expressing his anguish over not involving Congress party leaders in the UT consultative committee headed by Hill Council Chairman, Samphel said that the Congress party and public of Ladakh wants to know what point they submitted to PM during their recent meetings.
Congress had served the people of Ladakh for 70 years and Ladakhis cannot forget the contribution of congress party, asserted Samphel.
