JAMMU, Aug 24: Except Jhelum Express, all the trains operating from Jammu, Katra and Udhampur stations were cancelled today as the track could not be cleared by late this evening in Jallandhar area despite talks of famers leaders in Punjab with the Chief Minister Amrinder Singh.
A Northern Railways official told the “Excelsior” that the talks of the farmers’ leaders were held with the Punjab Chief Minister during the day today. It has been learnt that the issue has been settled. But till late this evening, the track could not be cleared.
“Since we have not received any green signal from New Delhi about operation of trains, therefore, the train service will remain suspended even today on the 5th consecutive day. It takes time for the engineering wing and RPF teams to check the track and give clearance. As and when we receive any signal from the top Railway officials, the operation of trains will be commenced. Moreover, majority of the trains will arrive here from outside J&K and then leave from here. Only Jhelum express left Jammu Station late this evening for Pune via diverted route,” the official added.
