SRINAGAR, Sept 1: Under the directions of Excise commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma raids were conducted at the Brick Kilns in Nowbug, Chadoor and Budgam areas. The raids were conducted jointly under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive, Kashmir, Excise and Taxation officer, Central Kashmir and Range inspectors of all three districts. The action was taken after getting the complaints of manufacturing of illicit liquor in the area received by Excise Department.
During the raid 70 ltrs of Lahan and 6 lts of illicit liquor was recovered in the area adjacent to brick kilns.
Continuing the action, today raids were also conducted at brick kilns of Astanpora Chattergam, Srinagar.
During the raid a huge catch of 400 lts of Lahan, 7 lts of illicit liquor, two small working stills and 10 kgs of Gur were recovered by the team, which were led by Deputy Excise commissioner, Executive Kashmir and other officers of the department.
The team destroyed the recovered Lahan on the spot and illicit liquor alognwith working still were handed over to the police station Nowgam, for further investigations.
Police assistance was sought during the raid and Police team led by SDPO Panthachowk alongwith SHO P/S Nowgam also visited the spot.
