RAJOURI, May 3: In order to curb menace of illicit distillation and sale of liquor, particularly during elections, sleuths of Excise Department conducted raids in various areas of district Rajouri, and seized 55 litres of ‘desi’ liquor as well as 21 quintals of Lahan.
The raids were conducted by an Excise team led by Inspector Mohd Arif under the supervision of ETO Rajouri-Poonch Narinder Singh Anthal and on the direction of Excise Commissioner J&K Pankaj Kumar and Deputy Excise Commissioner Executive Kusum Sharma.
During search at Dhangri, 55 litres of illicit liquor distilled and 21 quintals of Lahan (raw material used for illicit liquor distillation) were recovered. Also, one person namely Chander Prakash son of Jagdish Raj, resident of Dhangri (Rajouri) was arrested.
Further investigation in this regard was being conducted to break the supply chain of illicit liquor in Rajouri area.
