Excise raids conducted in Bishnah, RS Pura

JAMMU, Apr 27: Excise Department today conducted raids in villages falling under Excise ranges of Bishnah and RS Pura to check the menace of illicit distillation of liquor and illegal smuggling of liquor from other States.
During the course of raids, which were conducted at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Kotli Mian Fateh, Salehar, Dabvlehar, Tarachak, Phinder, Kothey Bulandey, Lalyana Rehal, Sheikhupura and Shibuchak, one person namely Bina Devi wife of Bittu Lal, resident of Tarachak, was arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act, as two bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from her possession.
Besides this, about 250 Kg of lahan and six bottles of illicit liquor made from lahan, which is highly hazardous and injurious for health were recovered by the raiding team from the State land and destroyed on the spot.
The raids were conducted on the directions of Excise Commissioner, Mohd Javed Khan, under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh. The excise teams that conducted raids were led by ETO City Excise Range South, Rohit Sharma and ETO, Eradication Wing, Jammu, Dr Suraj Chander Singh, along with Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspectors, Parshant Mathur, Vikas Khajuria and Wasim Zargar.
