Excise raids conducted in Bishnah, RS Pura; 250 Kg Lahan destroyed

JAMMU, Mar 8: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor and illegal smuggling of liquor from other States, the J&K Excise Department today conducted raids in various villages of Bishnah and RS Pura and destroyed about 250 Kg Lahan.
The Excise team led by ETO City, Excise Range, South, Rohit Sharma and ETO Eradication Wing, Jammu, Dr Suraj Chander Singh, assisted by Inspector Ritesh gupta and Sub-Inspector Parshant Mathur, conducted a series of raids at villages Bishnah, Deoli, Makhanpur, Kotli Mian Fateh, Salehar, Dablehar, Tarachak, Sikanderpur, Shibuchak and Sheikhupura.
During the course of raids, two persons namely Billo Devi wife of Darshan Lal, resident of Salehar and Pushpa Devi wife of Manohar Lal, resident of Bishnah, were arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act. Four bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from their possession.
Besides this, about 250 kg of Lahan and four bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan, which is highly hazardous and injurious to health, were recovered by the raiding team and destroyed on the spot.
The raids were conducted under the overall supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K, Mohd Javed Khan and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh.
