Excise sleuths intensify drive

JAMMU, Dec 23: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation and smuggling of liquor, J&K Excise Department has intensified raids at various locations to check such offences.
The Excise teams led by ETO City, Excise Range South, Naeem Mughal and ETO Eradication Wing, Jammu, Suresh Sharma, assisted by Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspectors, Manvinder Pal Singh and Sandeep Kumar, conducted a series of raids in Bishnah and RS Pura Excise Ranges at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Tarachak, Haslachak, Shiekhpura, Shibuchak, Kotla and Kothey Bulandae to arrest the menace of illicit distillation.
During the course of raids, 600 kg of Lahan, one working Still and 10 bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan, which is highly hazardous and injurious to health, were recovered and destroyed on the spot by the raiding teams.
