Excise sleuths, Police rescue 12 bovine animals

JAMMU, Oct 14: Continuing its drive against bovine smuggling, a joint team of the officials of Toll Post Lakhanpur and Police Department Lakhanpur foiled a major smuggling bid when they seized a vehicle smuggling 12 bovine animals. The truck bearing registration number JK02BK-0277 had entered the State during mid night from Punjab.
The vigilant staff at Toll Post and police men of Lakhanpur Police Station intercepted the truck. The driver of vehicle tried to flee to Punjab but the alert staff at the Toll Post Lakhanpur in coordination with police seized the vehicle  and rescued the 12 bovine animals. But the driver of the vehicle along with his accomplice managed to escape.
The whole operation was conducted by the Joint team headed by Excise & Taxation Officers Varinder Singh Pawar, Ajay Bharti, Sandeep Gupta and Suraj Chander Singh, SHO Police Station Lakhanpur, Kulbir Choudhary along with incharge Inspector, Dheeraj Kumar, incharge Sub inspectors, Kanwaljeet Shan,Sheikh Towseef and sub inspectors Vinay Kumar and Manvinder Pal Singh besides the excise guards under the direct supervision of Suleman Choudhary SSP Kathua and Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Excise Commissioner , Toll Post Lakhanpur.
