POONCH, Dec 7: Excise sleuths along with flying squad of district administration Poonch achieved major success when a narco smuggling bid was foiled during on going Panchayat elections. The peddler was apprehended while narcotics consignment was recovered.
The naka was laid on the direction of Excise Commissioner J&K, Rahul Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Excise Executive Amarjeet Singh, under the supervision of ETO Rajouri -Poonch Virender Singh Pawar along with flying squads of district administration Poonch led by Mohd Afzal Executive Magistrate and Mohd Arif Inspector Excise near poll bound areas of Nangali Sain Baba Sathra Block.
The team during checking intercepted one accused, Sajjad Ahmed, son of Ghulam Ahmed, resident of Dunugam, Tehsil Mandi in district Poonch. The police made recovery of narcotic material from him. He was booked under Section 08/20/29 of NDPS Act and Report number 39/2020 ESRP-K. Further investigation is going on to crack the peddling network particularly active during elections.
