Excise team raids working stills, seizes 4500 kg Lahan

JAMMU, Sept 7: The Excise sleuths today raided two different villages in Bishnah and seized 4500 kgs of Lahan and destroyed on the spot.
Official sources said that on the directions of Excise Commissioner, J&K, Subhash Chander Chibber, the Excise Department launched a operation to tackle illegal liquor distillation at Karail Manasa and Shekhpur villages of Tehsil Bishnah. The raid, led by Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Sanjay Bhat, aimed to dismantle illicit liquor production operations in the region.
The team conducting the raid included ETO Samba Dr Anil Chandan, ETO South, Rupali Vaid, ETO Eradication Sania Malik, Inspector Gagandeep Singh (Incharge Bishnah Range), Inspector Khalid Amin (Incharge R.S. Pura Range), Inspector Paramjeet Singh (Incharge Samba Range) along with Excise Guards Parladh Singh, Hitesh Kumar, Kamal Kumar and other officials.
During operation, the team seized and destroyed 4500 kilograms of Lahan, a key ingredient used in the production of illicit liquor. Those involved in the illicit liquor production escaped from the spot. The team has taken cognizance of it.
This raid is part of the Excise Department’s sustained efforts to eliminate illegal distillation and ensure strict enforcement of Excise laws, an official said.
