‘Excluding drivers, cleaners from relief package a grave injustice’

JAMMU, May 2: All Jammu and Kashmir Oil & LPG Tank Truck Drivers &  Cleaners Union, the representative body of drivers  that carries essential petroleum products including Diesel, Petroleum, and ATF fuel have expressed disappointment for excluding the drivers and cleaners from the Rs 350 crore relief package approved by J&K Administrative Council headed by Lieutenant Governor, GC Murmu to provide relief to the affected section of the society amid lockdown due to corona pandemic.
S. Harasis Singh, Advisor and spokesperson of the Union in a press statement issued here today said, “All the drivers and cleaners like other affected people were quite affirmative of getting some financial relief from the J&K Government but the curt treatment by the Union Territory administration has dashed our hopes to ground”.
Singh also said that their organization is happy for all fellow citizens who are covered under the financial relief package but excluding the drivers and cleaners especially that carries essential petroleum products including LPG Cylinders is grave injustice.
The Union spokesperson reiterated the demand before the J&K Government to consider including the drivers and cleaners in forthcoming relief package as the lockdown has been extended for further two weeks.
“These drivers and cleaners are facing lot of difficulties in arranging food, milk and medicines for elders and the children during lockdown,” Singh said.
