JAMMU, Mar 5: Executive Engineer, Rural Development Department Ramban Ashok Kumar Pargotra has demanded immediate arrest of the goons who attacked him few days back at Ramban while he was performing his official work.
Talking to reporters here today he said that his life was in danger as some officials and officers in his department were hell bent to eliminate him for raising the voice against the scandals made by them for years together.
He said instead of taking action against them the officers at the helm of affairs were harassing him and those involved in corrupt practices were hell bent to eliminate him. He said few days back these officials hatched a conspiracy with some goons and he was attacked by 25 persons while he was performing his government duty.
He said had the local BDO not come to his rescue he would have been finished by them. Pargotra said an FIR was also registered in PS Ramban on the same day by him but till date police failed to arrest them.
He said he had earlier intimated the DC Ramban, and higher ups including the Principal Secretary to Governor, advisor to Governor requesting them to provide security to him in view of growing threat to his life but nothing was done in this regard.
Pargotra said his family is also feeling scared due to threat to his life as he tried to become a whistle blower and expose the scandals in the Department. He said in Gool Rs two crore were withdrawn by department officers without laying material and all records were fudged in this regard in 2013-14 and 15. Later the same was set ablaze.
He said the rules have been totally violated in the Department as a non technical person was given the charge of AEE and crores of rupees were withdrawn on his signature without taking test check from Executive Engineer.
He appealed the Governor to order a probe into the bunglings and save the state exchequer.
