Exemplary initiatives taken to uplift socio-economic profile of people: DyCM

JAMMU, Oct 31: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that exemplary initiatives have been taken by the Government to uplift socio-economic profile of the people of the State. These initiatives on one hand cater to development needs and on the other address welfare requirement of different sections of society, he added.
“Besides launching mega-infrastructure development projects all across the State welfare initiatives like SKEWPY, MNREGA as well as different schemes for weaker sections, elders, migrants, widows and those living below poverty line, are well serving their purpose,” he added.
Mr. Tara Chand was addressing a high level meeting to review the pace and progress of different projects and welfare schemes launched in the rural and border belts of the State.
District Development Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma, Director, Urban Local Bodies F.C. Bhagat, CEO, JUDA Shubra Sharma, ACD, Jammu Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Akhnoor and other senior officers and engineers of different departments attended the meeting.
Calling for mass awareness about Government schemes, the Deputy Chief Minister said series of camps have to be organized for making people aware about different welfare and employment schemes launched under SKEWPY, Urban Development and other departments for addressing the needs of people.
He said Kissan Credit Card is a potent tool for making timely advances to the farmers and to avoid frequent formalities in getting loan from the banks.
“Need of the hour is to extend the reach of the schemes launched in different sectors and it is duty of the concerned officers to organize awareness camps in rural and far off belts so as to make sure that those living in these areas also get benefit of these prestigious programmes and schemes,” he added.
While directing engineers of different departments for time line completion of projects, Mr. Tara Chand said no delay would be tolerated in the development works and proper adherence to quality standards has to be ensured. Prestigious development projects have been launched to create durable assets in the rural pockets and those involved in these projects should take utmost care that public money gets utilized in most efficient and transparent manner, he underscored.
