Exercise to rationalize resources to be completed within one month: DSE

JAMMU, June 27: The exercise to rationalize existing resources of the School Education Department aimed at ensuring optimum benefit to the students would be completed within another one month as substantial progress has been made in this regard. With this exercise, over 1300 schools would be co-located in Jammu division with the sole objective of improving quality of education by providing best possible facilities to the students.
Disclosing this to EXCELSIOR, Director School Education, Jammu, Yasha Mudgal said, “rationalization of resources, which is one of the major reformative steps initiated by Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar would shortly become reality as major head-way has been made in this regard by carrying out detailed exercise across the Jammu province during short span of time”.
“Under this exercise actual requirement of the Government schools, deployment of teaching staff and enrolment of students in the schools has been ascertained through the respective Chief Education Officers”, she said, adding “even the District Administration has also been involved in this exercise and now concrete picture is available with the Directorate of School Education for necessary action on ground”.
Stating that there was no dearth of teaching staff and only steps are required to make optimum use of the available manpower, Yasha Mudgal said, “under the rationalization process actual requirement of each and every Government school would be taken care of”, adding “major beneficiary of this entire exercise would be the students community as we will ensure that there is one teacher for every 25 students”.
She disclosed that as per the criteria laid down by the Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, Directorate of School Education, Jammu has identified more than 1300 Government schools, which are to be co-located with the schools in their immediate vicinity under this rationalization exercise. These schools have been identified on the basis of enrolment, distance from nearby school and staff in the nearby school etc.
Of these schools, 334 would be in Jammu district, 158 in Samba district, 347 in Kathua, 123 in Kishtwar, 26 in Ramban, 159 in Rajouri, 162 in Reasi, 189 in Doda, 130 in Poonch and 264 in Udhampur.
Responding to a question, Yasha Mudgal said, “the rationalization exercise would be completed within next one month and the same would result into better facilities for the students, which would ultimately help in improving the standard of education, the real objective of this entire process”, adding “the rationalization process would also check intermingling of teaching practices and help in ensuring better pupil-teacher interaction”.
“This exercise would also help in opening of surplus schools in those areas which are in dire need of the same”, the Director further said.
She disclosed that as per the instructions from the Minister the Directorate would not upgrade any school till complete rationalization of resources.
According to Yasha Mudgal, 62 lecturers, who were deployed in the Directorate have recently been transferred to different places in most transparent manner. Moreover, repatriated Masters have also been properly posted and adjusted. “Now, our focus would be on overstaying staff and they would be transferred as per the provisions of new Transfer Policy prepared by the School Education Department”, she added.
