Exiled poets, writers for inclusion of Devnagri as alternative script

JAMMU, Sept 3: Exiled Kashmiri poets ,writers, playwright s ,intellectuals in particular and lacs of KPs scattered in Jammu and other parts of the country today appealed to GOI to include Devnagri as alternative script for Kashmiri in the bill to be passed in the forthcoming Monsoon Secession of Parliament. It has become diasporic necessity for our generation next to stay connected to their written Kashmiri literature through Devnagri Script, a handout issued by them said.
The signatories to the handout included Dr Shashi Shekhar Toshkhani, Dr Rattan Lal Shant, M.K.Santoshi Dr Kshama Kaul, Dr Agnishekhar, all writers, Rattan Lal Jowhar, literary critic, P N Shad, writer, Bal Krishan Sanyasi, poet, Maharaj k Shah writer/ film maker and J.N.Sagar ,writer
They also demanded that Nagri script should also get approval as an additional script for Kashmiri since this script is in use at a larger scale among exiled KPs especially younger generation spread all over India and Globe .Nastaliq should also continue for those who prefer to write and read in that script They further said having two scripts will open new horizons for a language.
These writers and scholars also demanded that efforts be also made at Government level to promote ancient Sharda script which is the basic Lipi (script) for writing of Kashmiri language and has gone in oblivion due to certain political upheavals over the decades.
