JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today directed I&FC department to expedite de-silting work of Ranbir canal and its distributaries.
The Minister issued the instructions while inspecting ongoing de-silting work at Tawi siphon D-9 near Irrigation Store in Belicharana.
He directed the officers for proper disposal garbage to ensure that it does not re-enter the canal with rainwater.
He instructed to regularly visit the sites where de-silting works have been taken up and take new initiatives to complete the work in stipulated timeframe.
While inspecting the MICD Store and Office of Executive Engineer, Flood Control Division Jammu, the Minister asked the Chief Engineer to initiate disciplinary action against the absentees and said that no dereliction of duty would be tolerated.
On the occasion, the Minister directed that the Assistant Executive Engineers should sit in their respective sub-division offices while Junior Engineers should remain present in their section Headquarters.
Chief Engineer, I&FC Rajeev Gandotra, Executive Engineers and other officers of the department accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
