Expedite process to rehabilitate flood victims: PDP

Jammu, Apr 10: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded that rehabilitation initiatives for flood victims should be further expatiated in all parts of the State in general and Kashmir Valley in particular to mitigate suffering of the people as early as possible.
In a joint statement issued here today, Nizamuddin Bhat,ex-MLA and general secretary of the party, Sofi Abdul Gaffar, ex-minister, Qazi Mohammad Afzal, ex-Minister and Dr Mohammad Shafi said that there was a need to further accelerate rehabilitation operations in all parts of the State especially in far-flung areas of Kashmir Valley.
They said that in the Valley, especially in the remotest areas, people have lost everything in the devastating floods of September 2014 and there was a need that they should be adequately compensated. They further said that small-time traders and destitute, who lacked insurance cover, shall be provided financial assistance so that they should be enabled to restart their lives afresh.
PDP leaders demanded timely announcement and dispensation of appropriate compensation to the flood victims in a dignified manner.
