Expedite work on Jammu tourism projects: AJHLA

JAMMU, Dec 7:  Expressing grave concern over the steep decline in the tourist influx in Jammu,   All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association (AJHLA)  has called upon the State Govt to awake from deep slumber and give due attention for the timely completion of the stalled ongoing mega tourism projects.
Addressing the meeting Inderjeet Khajuria,  president gave a pointed reference to the projects of Artificial Lake Project on Tawi river,  Beautification of Tawi banks on the Sabarmati pattern and Mubarak Mandi Heritage Project. These projects have either been stalled or lying at the stage of DPR preparation.
He said that attracting tourists is a distant dream as the half hearted efforts and lack of will in completion of ongoing projects will  further deteriorate the tourism potential,  causing a great set back to  the Jammu economy which stands already shattered. Hotel industry is already under financial crisis and has been on ventilator due to various reasons besides the continuous turmoil in the Kashmir valley since last 5 months causing steep decline in the tourist influx.
Members also discussed the election process for the elections of the Association being held on  December 17 at 11 am at Kingsway Hall, on Maharaja Gulab Singh Marg  where the elections for the posts of president, senior vice president,  Vice President,  general secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and publicity secretary are being held.
Prominent among those present  in the meeting included,  Pawan Gupta, HS Manhas, Baldev Raj, Sunil Suri, Pritam Sharma and ML Sharma.
