Srinagar, June 4: Department of Food and Drugs today seized expired carbonated water worth Rs1.75 lakh from Harwan area of Srinagar.
A spokesperson of the department said on the basis of complaint a huge stock of carbonated water whose date of “Best Before” had elapsed and was put for sale at Harwan area of Srinagar were seized by the Food Safety Officer.
He said a team of Food Safety Officers headed by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Srinagar inspected the premises and seized the whole stock worth Rs. 1.75 lakh. “Samples were lifted for further necessary action under rules,” he said.
In addition, he said, bakery items worth Rs. 10,000 were destroyed in Saraibala area which were kept for sale under unhygienic conditions.
He said some bakers in the city who have started their business were also inspected and were impressed upon to maintain high standard of hygiene and Follow in letter and spirit all COVID-19 related guidelines issued by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
