Explosives, ammunition haul in Rajouri

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 7:  Army and police today thwarted a major plot by the militants to carry out terror strike with timely recovery of a large quantity of explosive material, arms and ammunition from a natural hideout at Jaran Wali forest area under the jurisdiction of Kandi police station in Rajouri district. A joint column of 60 Rashtriya Rifles and a team of Kandi police station conducted searches In Jaran Wali forest area and made the recoveries. Hideout of the militants was busted, official sources said. Recoveries made from the hideout included one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), 12 UBGL grenades, one Chinese pistol with 90 rounds, 241 AK rounds, half kg RDX, 44 Pika rounds, 14 Chinese grenades, 1000 Global Positioning System (GPS), one I Com set, three AK magazines, one Motorola set, 12 detonators, three maps and 10 meters IED wire. The explosives and other recoveries had the potential of causing large scale casualties and damage to property, sources said, adding the busting of the hideout has thwarted militant designs.
